"Position Among the Stars" the big winner at IDFA 2010
In a first for the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, a director has won the feature-length doc award twice.
Leonard Retel Helmrich's Position Among the Stars, which opened this year's festival, is the third part of a trilogy following an Indonesian family from the slums of Jakarta. It claimed the top prize, the VPRO IDFA Award for Best Feature-Length Documentary, and the Dioraphte IDFA Award for Dutch Documentary. Retel Helmrich won in 2004 with second part of the trilogy, The Shape of the Moon.

The documentary Position Among the Stars (Stand van de sterren) by Dutch director Leonard Retel Helmrich will open this year’s 23rd International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam. The film will be screened Wednesday 17 November in Pathé Tuschinski cinema. The film also competes in the IDFA Competition for Feature-Length Documentary.

The Dutch documentary 'Contract Hotels - Djangan Loepah! (Don't forget!)' by Hetty Naaijkens - Retel Helmrich has been awarded with a Crystal Film for over 10.000 visitors since it´s release. 'Contract Hotels - Djangan Loepah!' is the first documentary this year to reach the status of a Crystal Film in the Netherlands. |

There are no translations available. De documentaire 'Stand van de Maan' van Scarabeefilms draait op het NS Try Out Festival 2010. De eerste voorstelling is op 30 september om 22:30 op het treinstation van Amersfoort. "Stand van de Maan" won in 2005 de Joris Ivens Award. Het vervolg "Stand van de Sterren" gaat waarschijnlijk in premiere op het IDFA 2010.
